The Opening Homes website enables people living with disability and their families to visit the ‘open’ homes of peers. Participants will be able to:
- go online and inspect a diverse collection of housing for people living with disability and learn about accessible and purpose-built housing
- learn how people match support with technology to maximize their support package
- learn about a broad range of housing options including home ownership, and renting in community housing
- deepen their understanding about what is available to them in the rental market
You can explore a diverse range of living enviroments. People living with disability can view videos of people living in their homes.
The website aims to assist NDIS participants and their families to make more informed choices about what type of home they want and how good access designs and automation can reduce reliance on paid support.
Opening Homes is funded by NDIS and developed by Julia Farr Housing Association. Further information is available at www.openinghomes.org.au
